I credit my Catholic education in elementary and high school for the guidance, support, and mentoring I received as I set my goals toward success and college. Their encouragement and notice of my gifts and challenges helped to point me in the right direction.
When I started my freshman year at the University of Kentucky, I began in Undergraduate Studies as an undecided student, and I am still grateful for the individual guidance and support offered by my advisor Mr. Matthew Deffendall. Matthew helped me identify my academic strengths and also introduced me to the curriculum and classes that would make up my major.
My career path landed me in higher education for five years before I pursued the path I am currently on. With my work in college admissions following graduation, I was able to give back and serve students and families who were also seeking guidance in their college search. During this time, first at the University of Kentucky and later at the University of Notre Dame, I was able to spend extra time focused on supporting first generation students.
Part of my passion was also helping younger students know what tools they need to be prepared to be successful in college. The single best decision I ever made was to attend the University of Kentucky. Not only did I meet the adults who would help mentor and shape me, but I met my husband and so many other people who were influential and supportive of my dreams!
